Good Afternoon friends of the Veterans Car & Motorcycle Show,
This is a Car and Motorcycle Show that should definitely be on your schedule! It’s the 7th Annual Salute to Veterans Car & Motorcycle Show. I am Lynn Kirwan who, as a volunteer, has produced the Veterans Car Shows for the past 6 years. The first 5 benefited the Salvation Army Veterans & Family Center and last year the Hillsboro VFW was the beneficiary. We have grown from 90 cars in 2012 to over 400 in 2017 and have raised over $164,000 for local homeless veterans and their families. Because we have been able to get much of the budget items donated, about 94% of the funds raised goes directly to our veterans. This year will be no different. The funds raised will not go to administrative costs, it will go to local projects mostly run by volunteers. The goal this year is $50,000 so there is lot of work to do.
We have grown up after 6 years and have made a very exciting alliance … The Multnomah Hot Rod Council (MHRC) will be presenting our Show this year! I’m still the coordinator but now the MHRC will provide huge exposure and clout. So many of you have been there to support me for all 6 years and have made the Show what it is today. Thank you all for your support!
Please register your motorcycle soon and join us at the Hillsboro Fair Complex in August! We will have the usual Blue Grass Band, DJ, Huey helicopter landing, Motorcycle Ride, and vintage military vehicles. See the attached flyer for details.
I am asking also that you help me get the word out and share ideas to make this a better show. If you belong to a motorcycle club please post it on the events calendar. I would be happy to attend a meeting to get folks registered. Don’t forget we have a participation trophy! This year I will acknowledge clubs in the program and are inviting them to set up club banners.
Please post on Facebook pages. Please invite one car/motorcycle enthusiast to the Show. If you have any trophy sponsor ideas please forward the contact information to me. They start at $100, have the sponsor name on the trophy and choose a Best in Show car (see attached flyer). A couple clubs sponsor a trophy…but cannot choose a motorcycle from their club of course! If you have raffle item ideas or even vendor/booth ideas please let me know.
Time goes very fast so let’s get going now! Again, thank you for helping make this the largest Car & motorcycle Show in Oregon (and maybe beyond) benefiting veterans.
