As you know, we are holding our annual elections with voting open from September 13th to 27th. Included in this issue are the candidate statements. Please read them carefully! I would highly encourage your participation in this process, both to ensure the democratic nature of our organization and to demonstrate your commitment to our future. 2026 election candidate statements 2026 BMWRO Nominees for Board of Trustees Positions All positions are for two-year terms, beginning Jan 1, 2027-Dec 31, 2029. President (1 nominee, vote for one) Mike Davis Newport Oregon. Hello Members When I pulled into the River’s Edge Campground last weekend for our August event and saw all the motorcycles, RVs, and smiling faces, I instantly was reassured that this is what the BMWRO is all about - not the gear, but the members. The members who host, the members who help, the members who participate, all congregated together having fun. The sole purpose of a membership organization is to provide a safe and supportive environment where people with a common interest may socialize, form bonds, and have fun without concern of conflict or confrontation. With your elective support we have developed a very strong board. Our financial and legal position is ample and firm, our events have become more varied, creative, and higher attended, our membership is stable and our rally continues to be financially successful and draw attendees from around the country. The river never runs backwards, only forward. And so must we to not only discover new opportunities for adventures but also continue to support this wonderful organization and attract like minded members. My interest in continuing as President is to support all of the above as we navigate through these post-covid times and ride together into the future. I’m currently secretary of the Board and will happily run for this position again. I keep track of our minutes from meetings, maintain correspondence, and carry a vote in decision making. I also run the election process as we are in now. I embrace a sense of duty to this role and take it on seriously. Everything else in this club is just adventure and fun. I’ve been an active member and rider of BMW bikes since 2006 attending my first rally ever in John Day Oregon in 2007. The bikes are wonderful yet moreover the people I know through BMWRO continue to enriched my life. Ride Smart. With gratitude, Carol Board Member at Large position #2 (3 nominees for this position, vote for one) 1, Kurt Miller, Bend Oregon Hello, my name is Kurt Miller. I am the current Ambassador for the Central Oregon / Northeast Region. I previously served as Vice President and as Rally Chair. I am interested in serving the club again as Member at Large. In this role I would work with the leadership team to encourage member-focused events, continue fiscal responsibility and encourage more volunteers to participate in club events and activities. 2. Gary Harkins Albany Oregon Hello, I am running for the position of Board of Directors Trustee #2, a position I currently hold. I have been a member of BMWRO for about 15 years now. During that time I have attended most of the campouts and participated innumerous rides and meetings. Last year I was asked to become Ambassador of the Central Western Region. I am currently working on some ideas for next year already. For these past few months, I have enjoyed working with the current Board of Trustees. I like to think I bring a different perspective to the position. I have been listening to the concerns of the membership over the years and some thought they were being ignored. 3. Joy Cesafsky Bend Oregon Hello,
My name is Joy Cesafsky.
I’ve been with BMWRO for about 15 years now. My first motorcycle rally was at CJR. I was on an 1100 RT and I camped.
Throughout the years, I’ve volunteered on a few different committees with the club, mainly focusing on registration and the information booth. It’s been a lot of fun and hard work!
I also served as a board member at my children’s parochial school for 9 years. I worked in many capacities within the school, planning huge events throughout the school year.
The biggest takeaway I learned from this was simple: it takes 4 wheels to properly roll a wagon. It’s called teamwork! Every wheel is important!
My husband Allen and I both ride motorcycles, and he’s a member as well. I give you my word that I will bring passion, teamwork, and joy to the board!
